Exam Impression How to Save and Use Preferences for the Hand

Overview

This article describes how to create, edit, and use a Body Part Exam Impression Preference for the XXX.

PROJECT MANAGERS/TRAINERS:  REPLACE THE XXX WITH THE BODY PART. DELETE THIS HIGHLIGHTED TEMPLATE BAR.

Tips

  1. Naming Options: To bring your saved Impression preferences to the top of the drop down menu, put one space and your initials in front of your preference name. Your practice should adopt a Preference Naming convention for use by the Providers to maintain consistency.
  2. Have the one single body part you are using selected on the Home Dashboard prior to setting any preferences.
  3. Each Exam Impression Preference can be saved to Bilateral, Right, and Left.  The Data Base stores each of these individually.  Going forward, you will be saving the Impression Preference as three separate sections.
  4. Prior to saving Exam Impression Preferences discuss with the provider if he/she would like the abnormal values on the opposite side populated, populated with normal values or to remain empty.  This will determine how you save the abnormal or impression exams.  If the provider does not want the normal values saved with the Impression Preference on the opposite side, do not drop in the body side Normal during the Impression Preference building session.  Make certain to delete each field on the opposite side and save the Impression Preference with empty values.
  5. When adding the Impression Preference Name to the Create Impression Box: Highlight Impression Preference Name in the Box and select Ctrl c to copy to clipboard.  This makes it easier to paste in the Create Preference Box later. It also ensures accuracy.
  6. Expand the Table of Contents on the right side of this screen.  Click on any topic to go directly to that area of the instructions.
  7. Watch the following video prior to the Remote Training Session.

  2. Review and populate a value on all the tests you would perform on a regular basis with normal values. Notice some fields do not have a right and left values field. This field crosses right and left to apply to all three options:  Bilateral, Right, and Left.
  3. Check every Tab, Folder, and Field.
  4. Check all main tabs across the top of the Exam area.

NOTE TO PM WRITING ARTICLE: INSERT BODY PART SCREENSHOT HERE WITH ARROWS IN RED FOR EACH OF THESE INSTRUCTION AREAS.  EXAMPLE HERE IS THE ANKLE EXAM VIEWS.  GOAL IS TO DEMONSTRATE THERE ARE VALUES TO POPULATE IN EACH AREA.

Set Provider Normal

INSERT SCREENSHOT OF BODY PART DROP DOWN WITH ARROWS IN RED FOR THESE 2 INSTRUCTIONS.

  1. Go to “Normal” at the top and click the small dropdown arrow beside it.
  2. Select “Set Normal”.

You will be prompted “Set Provider Normal?”, Select Yes.

To refresh and test, close the Exam.

"Yes" to Save to patient.  Save to patient does not save to the set Normal nor to the Impression Preference.  This saves the values you have entered to the practice patient.  In the event you did not actually save the Normal Values, this protects the values and saves you time from setting them a second time.

  1. Open the exam icon from the History Tree Icon to refresh.
  2. Clear all fields by clicking the "eraser" icon.
  3. Populate the Normal values by selecting the Blue Checkmark.

  1. QC Blue Check Mark bilateral normal values.  Check all fields, tabs and folders.
  2. Click the drop down to use a single body side normal to the right or left.
  3. Right or Left values can also be populated independently.

Pay attention to the Gait, Vasc Normal and Neuro Normal that populate the same for Bilateral, Right and Left Normal Values.
